marcus miller question

    hey guys i have a few questions regarding the marcus miller jazz bass... i am a punk bassist and i love the tone and feel of a jazz bass i really like the american standard with a maple neck and i was pretty set on buying one of those until i played the MM. this bass totally rocks, but i want some opinions, what are the pros and cons of the MM Vs. american standard? for the music i play will the no tone control in passive mode hurt or help my sound? how about the 20 fret thing, hurt or help? also , what other options does fender have, i really like the block inlays and the maple neck. any sugestions? please help, John

    there is really nothing special about the Fender American basses. I don't want to cause you more confusion but if you dig the Marcus Miller bass you should also try and play the Geddy Lee bass. that and the MM are two of my favorite fender basses. the Japenese made stuff fender puts out is very nice.
