Any MM signature owners? I've been looking around for a 4 string for a couple weeks. Played almost everything except Sadowsky and the $3k + basses. I own two custom-built 5 strings that are incredible and a StingRay 5 string that has vibe, but I needed a 4 string. I was focusing on the more expensive basses figuring that was what I would want. Nothing really floated my boat. Then I tried a Marcus Miller signature model and was floored. It played incredibly well. Price was great, so a purchase was made.

Well, so much for the gear snobbery. The Marcus Miller Signature is a great bass.

PS - My wife thought I was joking about the bridge being called "BadAss". Heh.

I couldn't be more pleased with mine. Sounds very funky through my Genz rig. It has a very unique, raw sound. I'm setting it up B-D tomorrow. Kinda like a Marcus Miller/Tim C hyrbid. I'm excited.

I also have one of those and I do enjoy it. I did the switch bypass modification which allows the bass to be played in true passive mode instead of the bass running with the pre-amp flat in pasive mode. The MM bass is all boost and the switch just made the pre-amp flat but still on. It also saves the battery which had a habit of draining as long as the pre-amp switch was on regardless if the bass was plugged in or not!. I think Fender has since addressed the problem. The bass now sounds like a true passive bass in passive mode less the tone control.

I just bought a 2nd-hand MM bass last week, and I can't say enough positive things about it. I've played a lot of different Fender J basses, and the MM is IMO hands-down the best sounding out of all of em.

I saw a Marcus Miller signature Sadowsky bass on ebay. Never knew that existed. Must have been a relatively short run before Fender gave more bucks than Sadowsky.

Is the MM sig boost only? That's not what the Fender website claims.

There has never been a Sadowsky MM signature bass.

It was never a "signature" model in the sense that it was endorsed by Marcus Miller, but for a while, the Sadowsky Tokyo shop did produce a replica of Marcus' 77 jazz.

Okay just put down my MM bass and here's the 411, With the pre-amp turned all the way down then switching to passive the bass pretty much sounds the same. Now when you turn up the two eq knobs all it does is boost, there is no center detent like other active basses on the bass and treble knobs on the MM bass. I hope this explaination helps.

Yeah, i realize that it doesnt have detents, but the fender website clearly states boost/cut bass and treble, and further more, it seems to sound thinner with the knobs all the way down then it does in passive.

That said, does anyone have the link to the true passive mod?

Notice the Fender website does say boost/cut but does not give the +/- percentage of boost or cut it does for all the rest of it's active basses!

hey, y'all. I love my marcus miller 4 st. I use it for most everything, and it cuts the nut awesomely. If I'm playing with a loud guitar player, I roll off the treble and get the fattest low-end This thing just oozes cool vibes. Highly recommended.
