Mark Bass cmd 102p cutting out/clipping?

2nd gig with this amp and it shut down multiple times. Think it may be because i was overloading it with signal. Quick shutdown and turn on resolved it. Not the bass, because I saw signal on the pedal board. Do i need a compressor. It might just have overheated. I didn't take off that stupid velcro panel on the top and stage ventilation was questionable. Thoughts?
