Markbass 250 amp problem...

I can't seem to get a schematic for this amp. Love the amp but just can't get it fixed. It's a power supply problem. Please help!!
Honestly, you're probably better off just buying a new one. My LittleMark 3 died after 12 years of constant use. I wanted to fix it but estimates were too close to the price of a new amp, and I did choose a new MarkBass LittleMark 58R.

I had the same experience. When my MB blew I had to ship it to California, then wait 2 months for it to return to me. It went up on Reverb the moment I got it back.

Nope......not doing that again. If I didn't have a back-up (a second MB amp) I would have been screwed.

I'm beginning to agree with you! Now the question... I really like everything about this amp but and I'd buy a new one but I could see being in the same predicament again down the road ... All I could find so far is to ship it to CA. and wait a couple of months...that seems like a real thrill!! I'd buy in a minute if I could find a repair shop just in case! Any ideas maybe GK or Ampeg, etc.??

I would go Mesa or GK. I have owned both (still own the Mesa) and they are generally quick on repairs and (depending on the model, and the issue) locally serviceable.

VHT is the service agent of record for MarkBass here in the US, they are a solid resource:
Thanks!... I called their number and sure enough, they're on vacation for 2 weeks! I have a guy here in Rhode Island who can work on it but he needs the schematic... Apparently, I might as well be looking for the pot of gold at a freekin' Rainbow! Any ideas?

Thanks!... I have a GK MB210 which I like a lot, and it's portable enough... it's amazing with a 15 box added but I'd like a smaller setup for the "Dinner" crowd! I'll look further into Mesa and GK...

There is a difference between working on it and being able to get parts and factory support. Beware of wasting your money here...

Sorry for not getting back!... Thanks for the advice... The shop I've been working with seems pretty competent, especially since I can't find anyone who can touch the Markbass 250 without schematics to work with. I would really like to fix this thing but I think I'll be buying another amp. Certainly NOT a Markbass!... At least not without the ability to fix a problem if it comes up!

If prompt service is a priority, I'd look at Mesa and Genzler. Tonally, I prefer Ampeg over GK, YMMV.

Thanks for getting back!.. Just when I thought all was lost, the guy I left it with, here in Rhode Island, fixed it!... Turns out there was a heat problem with the power supply...when it shut off, he blew some cold air on it and it returned to life...while it was running, he ran a heat gun towards it and it shut down... he replaced a couple of over the counter parts and now all is well....time will tell!

That is good news! Best of luck
