Hey folks i have a svt classic head im looking for a 810 cab,,,, im playing p basses with flatwounds and using a pick.... i found a markbass classic 810 that owner says sounds better and its lighter than a ampeg,,, its 600 bucks! Should i get that to pair with the svt tube head or keep looking for the ampeg cab. Thanks T
90 lbs for a Markbass 810? Wow, that's soooo heavy! If you want a 810 that really featherweight, look at this other Italian brand… AT 810 – GRBass 1600W RMS / 21,5 Kg - 47,4 lbs Well, it doesn't seem to be available yet (at least the 810), and it will probably be pricey
That GR 810 should be a game changer when available. I have the AT212 and it’s fantastic. But I could be really tempted by the 810. The ultimate light, low and loud cab? Could be.
Gr bass i will check that company out I haven't heard of them,,,,,,edit: 47.5lbs for a 8x10!!!! That's lighter than my Aguilar sl410x it's insane....
I think that the Markbass Classic 810 is a sealed cab so closer to an Ampeg 810 in design, although I'd expect the Markbass to be higher performance. I've read that some tube heads work better with sealed rather than ported cabs but that might be wrong. However, I'd still be looking for a good Ampeg 810 as I understand some are better than others.
I have three Ampeg 8 10's and didn't pay more than $500 for any of them. I've never played through a Mark Bass 8 10 but I have played through a few other Mark Bass cabs and prefer my Ampegs to any of them.
Comparing an Ampeg fridge to just about anything ported, neo, significantly smaller, is like comparing chalk with cheese. Nothing else is going to sound like a fridge and if that's what you prefer even potentially sonically more capable cabs won't do "that sound". Apparently an SVT212AV does a decent facsimile but still isn't the same.
I don't remember any specifics, but the 2009 review in Bass Gear Magazine was pretty favorable on the CL108. @tombowlus says as much here: MarkBass CL108, anybody like these or use them?
It won't sound the same. And, it's yellow. I played one hooked to an SVT at the whiskey. It was okay. I had the fridge, it's amazing.
I have a feeling the price on that will make it a bit less attractive... at least to many/most of us.
I loooove big cabs (and stacks) but with 8x10 cabs under 100 lbs... I think it's pretty close to a time that any cab over 100-lbs for portable use is obsolete.
Bro, if you want light, big, beefy, all round cool, and totally killer tone, This is where it's at AT 810 – GRBass It's 47lbs. I've played the 212. It's pretty sick dude. I can imagine the 810 Edit: man!! Someone beat me to it!
