    Price:
    $600
    Location:
    Oklahoma
    Minor backstory on this one:

Bought this used off of Talkbass, and the original owner (being a 4-string player) didn't notice that the speaker farted out when it got below about Low D.

    So ...

Tried to get a replacement from Markbass, to no avail. Wouldn't get back to me, and the stuff I searched for online was too expensive.

I had a 4ohm 12" replacement speaker that I bought for a now-gone Walkabout Scout Combo. I threw that in this combo, and it instantly transported this combo into a more 'vintage-inspired' tonal landscape.

It still has the midrange bark/clarity that the normal combo has, but is a bit thicker in the low-mids. Great for URB/Electric/Whatever, and truly can carry a fairly loud gig. I've played it in a 5-pc R&B band with no PA support and it wasn't even struggling.

Price is firm (shipped to the CONTL US)

NO TRADES, but I'm always up for a humorous rejoinder/odd request.

I know you are, but what am I?
Any thoughts on how this compares/contrasts with the Markbass CMD 121p?

Few things, and I've owned/gigged both:

IF you require that tight punch of the smaller enclosure, which I find really cuts with an upright bass, then I'd stay away from the Alain Caron. You can definitely cut some bass and get the Alain to sound more like the CMD121P, but they're fundamentally different.

IF you like the CMD's tone, but want a bit of a wider sonic footprint with a LOT more headroom, then I WOULD consider this combo. It really thumps. The larger enclosure and the 4-ohm load make a big difference.

Sounds amazing for those close-mic'd jaw-harp sessions where you really want to drive a band.

    I think

This amp also excels at Quebecois-infused fretless 6-string wizardry.

I'm sure I spelled that Canuck word incorrectly, so apologies to my brothers/sisters to the North. Still not shipping to Canada though, unless a case of your finest whiskey is next-day-aired to my office.

Despite the larger enclosure, you could still one-hand this thing from your Prius to your Neo-Urban-Slapgrass gig.

The overall weight and distribution of mass for this amp qualifies it for kettle-bell routines. Just saying.

Nothing pithy to say at the moment bump.

Still available. Still more orange than most folks would like.

    True story:
Actually got asked to turn down on a gig with this combo. Loud sax/drums/keys. Always remember where I was when that happened.

Now that St. Paddy's day is behind us we can go back to orange-themed amplifiers.

I could have this arranged if the lawn mower is included in the deal!

To be clear, the lawnmower is staying with my soon-to-be ex-wife.

    TMI?

    Probably.

I appreciate the support I've received in combining lawn-care with divorce in my humor.

This sucker's pretty much a 'one-hander', but I'd advise switching arms periodically so as not to develop a Popeye arm.

'Stranger Hand' for amp-carrying. Look for the e-book soon.

    Don't call it a come-back ... I've been here for ... a little bit.
