Markbass LM 800, LM Tube?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Stereo Joe, Jan 17, 2009.

  1. I couldn't find anything in the search, so maybe someone could point me in the right direction?

I'm very curious about these 2 new amps from Markbass:

I found this NAMM pic of a Little Mark 800 and a Little Mark Tube 800.

    Anyone have info?

That MoMark is crazy! I wonder when the LMIII will be released as well.

Does anyone know when the LMK III 800 will be released?
    Thanks.

Judging by how Markbass still hasn't released the stuff they premiered at last year's NAMM, I'd say at least a year ;)

  8. From what I understand, it will be a while (6-12 months).

I believe the LM800 is basically a smaller, less fully featured SD800, which limits its appeal to me (the SD800 sounds way different than the LMII or SA450, etc.).

Actually, the new updated LMIII seems very cool. The only negative I have at all on the amazing LMII is that the power amp limiting kicks in a bit early when run in 8ohms. The new model seems to be designed to 'fix' that issue, along with a more fully featured DI.

IMO, and all based on second hand info.

All the new stuff goes into production in April. When it will arrive in the US depends on a bunch of different factors, such as ordering schedules and the speed of boats. I hope to have a better idea of an ETA soon!
    Cheers,

  11. Whatever happened to the F500. A year+ after announcement, and no US intro in sight.

The LMIII was the best thing I heard @ NAMM last month. The LMIII Tube didn't sound as clear to me & the MoMark 'LM3' setup sounded damn strange. The LM800 has that digital power section so it's probably not going to sound like the 500 watt analog. Marco said it would be released in a month, so it probably will be a year or so.

  13. That LMIII upgrade looks fantastic. The only two negatives I had on that head involved the power amp safety limiting being set a bit tight at 8ohms, and the DI was not switchable pre to post with a simple external switch. It looks like these two things were 'fixed', and I assume the updated limiting circuit will give the LMIII even more ooomph even at 4ohms than the LMII. Nice!

It still blows my mind that they didn't include a mute button, which was the other thing that some wished for.

I believe that there is one knob thats push-pull, thats the mute.

    EDIT: only on the LMT...

    Any word on these?

  17. Mine is still a couple weeks away from delivery. They are now shipping in the EU, so we should be hearing something from the guys across the pond very soon.

Sweet. Where do you order them? Don't see them on MF yet.

  19. I went through a bit of drama talking the GC sales guy through their system. The LMTube800 is on their intranet site (i.e., preorder only).

Quite frankly, it doesn't look like this did me any good at all. I will get mine when the first shipment arrives, like any schmoe off the street. The only difference is I've already had it charged to my credit card:meh: I would just wait until you see them on the MF website, and then order up.

I'm going to wait for reports of the LM800 to start filtering in. I love my LMII, but I'm concerned that the stuff I like in it will be lacking in the 800. I like the warm tone of the LMII, and 'vintage/clean' quality it has, but if the 800 comes across as too clinical, I'll be giving it a pass. While I don't need the extra volume, the extra headroom on the lows sounds good to me. When I play below E I find that it feels like the carpet is being pulled out from under my feet a bit. Keep in mind that I've got the lows boosted on my OBP-1 and at about 1 o'clock on my LMII. At stage volume it may be taxing the amp.
