This is a brand new custom bass I just received days ago. It’s only been played for a few minutes. Low action and plays great. I raised the action a little.

Don’t worry, it’s a very fine instrument. I just prefer Fender-style basses and I can tell in a few minutes if I’m going to love an instrument or not. I also returned a brand new Fodera Monarch because I didn’t love it if that makes you feel any better.

    I don’t have a scale.

I know from holding my Lakland (8.0 lb) and MM Stingray (9.4 lb) basses back to back, it’s in between the two.

If you can recommend a cheap, accurate scale then I wouldn’t mind purchasing one and weighing it for you. Thanks.

  6. Hi- I don't have a scale recommendation, but this is how I do it. I have a digital bathroom scale ($25.00, Target). I weigh myself with the bass, then without, and subtract. It's really hard to tell by holding them. I have 2 basses that feel the same, one is actually a half-pound lighter. Regardless, thanks for the response!

Ok, will do. Remind me if I don’t post it in a few days. I’m working 80hr/wk for about a month. Thanks.

    8.5lb.

I weighed the bass per your method above and got the same result 5 times. This jives with my hypothesis that it was in between my 8.0 and 9.4lb basses, so I do believe it to be accurate.
