Maruszczyk Jake 4 Hausell pickups etc any views

    Hi All,

    I am looking at a Jake 4 with Haussel PJ pickups and wondered what the general opinion of these pickups on this bass is. Do they balance ok? and can you get a good P bass sound and an ok J sound. I am tempted to put flats on it if i get it.

    Also are the standard tuners and bridges ok.

    The Maruszczyk bass in my avatar is equipped with Häussel pickups. The j is a little weak and the combination of both pickups also isn't as loud as the p alone. That said, I have not experimented with pickup heights etc., as I mostly use the p pickup only, so there might be improvements possible for the j and pj.

    The p pickup sounds excellent to my ears. I wanted a 60s style pickup when I ordered the bass and Adrian (Maruszczyk) suggested the Häussel. It does what I expected.

    Thanks Bassman. I am starting to think its better to just go for P configuration rather than a compromise.
