Matt Freeman

Discussion in 'Strings [BG]' started by Pesticle, May 13, 2002.

  1. what kinda strings would get me closer to matt freemans sound... im going for the self titled cd sound matt got.. anyone know what strings he used on what albums or what strings he has used in the past? thanks
  2. First of all, Play a Jazz or Musicman with a Pick, and that helps. Any bright, aggressive string would get you there IMO (Although I am not trying to get Freeman's sound; I like it warmer than that.) Try Fodera stainless steels. On a JAzz they will have bottom end with aggressive highs and high-mids, and that "ping" sound, which is what u want. Scoop out most of your low mids.

    Hope this helps.
