    I just saw that. I'm glad he avoided the pitfalls like drugs that hurt some many bebop players, and that he had a long life which allowed him to enjoy the fruit of his labor.

    He seemed like a pretty cool guy, very down to Earth; someone I would liked to have met. Very cool attitude towards Jazz and music in general.

    I read an interview of him a few years back in Jazz Times magazine.

    Another good one gone.

    By the way, when did he die? That link wouldn't open for me.

    I grew up listening to Max, when the rest of my peers were beatle-boppin' I was being mesmerized by Max and Buddy and Bernard .....
