    Hello all,

I plan to buy my first "real" amp, my budget is like 700 €.
    I have found 2 models head+cab :

    Marshall MB450h (hybrid) + MBC115 cab
    Ampeg PF350 (portaflex) + PF-115HE cab

I play mostly low-tuned stoner/metal (like Crowbar) + some death metal (suffocation, entombed, dismember...).

Do any people have any of these amp ?

    Thx !:bassist:

  2. Even tho I like the Ampeg sound., for the low stuff, perhaps favor the Marshall here.
Where are u located? Might there be better choices. .. 2nd hand perhaps.
If you could grab an Aguilar TH350 & another 115. ..???
The PF115HE is a sealed cab design & therefore is not as good as some ported cabs for deep lows.
Haven't tried the Marshall, but I've heard a few similar, they seem cool.
    Still- better stuff about imo
You can find the Aguilar TH 350 for cheap if u buy from the USA then finds a cab locally perhaps

I highly recommend the PF-350, (I have the PF-500), but if you play at high volume levels, you may want two PF-115HE cabs.

  5. Remember if u want the full 450 watts from the Marshall u must have two 4ohm cabs connected to it

In a pinch, I bought a PF350 when my two backups went into the repair shop at the same time. It fits in a Fender deluxe bass gig bag, sounds good, and was under $300US here in the USA. I actually like it.

    How's that, Jimmy? :ninja: :D :smug: :D

I'm french so prices are damned high over here :) For example the TH 350 is like 580€ (over my budget).

After reading all answers, I'll go for a pf350 then or maybe a used pf500 if I can find one.

For the cab, what would you guys suggest instead of PF115HE ? (budget 300-350 €).

I really like the SVT 210av. It's a medium duty cab...doesn't take as much power as the PF115he...but it sounds like a scaled down fridge IMHO.

I have the PF350. Has that great Ampeg tone, simple effective EQ, plenty of power - not "fill a stadium on its own" kind of power, but with 2 15s it packs a nice punch. Very portable - you can carry it over your shoulder in a small gig bag. Price is right too!

See if someone in the TB classified Ad section will ship to France. Heck, I may be selling mine in a month. How hard can it be? I have music published in France—used to spend a few weeks there every year—even was a summer student there. Parlons!

  12. I live in Australia & bought my TH500 from the USA for half what it costs here.
For low tuned stuff, maybe a GK neo 115 do Ampeg pf cabs make a ported 115? Think they make a ported 410 but. .???

Ya, they have a tweeterless ported 115 called the PF115lf. Goes SUPER low.
