I just updated the myspace page for one of my improv projects with some new tracks. www.myspace.com/nadatrio Last year I built myself something like the "giffus" pickup that Mark Dresser used to use, ie, the pickup that sits above the nut. I finally decided to use it on a gig; you can hear it on the middle two tracks (and also on one more on my personal myspace page, linked from the page above). I'm still not sure what I'm doing with the damn thing - I like using it as a sort of timbral filter / noise generator, certainly not anything as systematic as what MD does with his setup. Weird fun though - my friends have taking to calling it "the schtrap-on" because, well, it straps on. What?
I have a chart that Dresser gave me with all the harmonics and bi-tones. PM me with your email and I'll send it to you. The music sounds great - If you ever want to take a drive down the coast let me know, I'll get you some gigs.
Yeah - good stuff. I'm listening to the first tune now. Your group has a good thing going. "Nervous ECM" - that's good . . . Man, nice arco playing at the end.
