I know this info is out there somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it. Anyone care to post some info about where exactly pickups are mounted in some classic basses? For example, I know that a MM style pickup in a Stingray is closer to the neck than the bridge pickup in a Jazz bass, but that's a bit vague. Would someone who has access to a P, a J, and a MM care to do some measurements?

I was thinking distance from the tip of the bridge to where the pickup casing starts, but maybe that's not the best way to measure. Any other ideas?

Someone somewhere posted this and I saved it. Not very clear and I'm sure if it's measured from the nut to the centreline of each pickup coil.
  3. I have these measurements in my spreadsheet in the BASSES tab. Download it from my signature.
