    Which one is better?
    Also, would MEC work with an EMG preamp? I know EMG does with the MEC preamp.

    Pretty sure they'll both work with each other, but EMG quite obviously ;) MEC's I consider EMG clones to a very large degree, and I prefer using the company who came up with them first.

    I have MEC pups and pre in my Warwick Thumb bass. They sound fantastic! I also have EMG pups and pre in one of my Spector basses. They sound fantastic!
    You can't really go wrong with either one.
    Not sure what you're looking for sound wise but to my ears the MEC set sounds a little more woody and old school while the EMG sounds a little more hifi and modern.
