Medium - High Tension Flats / Tapes?

Discussion in 'Strings [BG]' started by Matthew_84, Aug 22, 2012.

  1. Hey TBers,

I prefer high tension strings, as I play hard, and with these will play near/over the fingerboard so I need something stiffer, something with a bit less tension than Chromes, but higher tension than GHS Precision Flats or GHS Tapewounds.

Also, tonally I'm looking for something like GHS Precision Flats or GHS tapewounds.

I've heard some Labella's have high tension but I've never tried them.

Anyone have any recommendations? Flats or Tapes, doesn't matter.

    Thanks,

    Matt

Rotosound's Steve Harris flats are high tension. I took them off after 3 days because I couldn't deal with it. THey're super bright when new, but after a few hours they develop a nice dead thud.

  3. Do they get more dead sounding than Chromes?

They're higher tension than chromes, too (IMO). I also heard somewhere that the SH flats are the same as the roto 77s, which is what I've got on my main player nos. I'm not all thrilled, they're a little stuff for my liking.

  5. Actually, I realized that for now Chromes will be good until I get my other fretless neck, but when I'll do, I'll want some flats or tapes, but I'd actually like them to have LESS tension than Chromes but higher tension than GHS Flats or GHS Tapes. Any recommendations for that?

I'm going to edit my initial post a bit as well.
