I have a Mouse in the house! Here is one so you can compare the difference of a 30" scale Believe me, it sounds bigger than it looks I'm sure he will get along well with the rest of the boys.
Wowza! If I ever buy a fretless it's gotta be a rob allen, his basses have the most organic beautiful tone!
Thanks guys! Hell yes, truffle shuffle, texas shuffle, it's all good. I just got back from Buffalo, what's that tell ya! It's actually a Peavey. I traded a friend a computer for it. For whatever reason, he sanded off the logo.
Very Nice ! I played the 5 string version of that bass at Rudys in NYC , you have got one fine quality instrument right their. All the best with it
Im gonna ask a dumb question...being that there isn't any pickups on the bass, or thumb rests, where do you rest your hand?
Beautiful, Rob is a stand up guy who really knows what he's doing. I don't know if I'll be able to take it when he moves his shop so much closer to me, I'll bee there all the time! He recently finished the bass that I ordered, it's truly amazing.
What a fine looking family that is!! I love that spalted maple. Totally rad. BTW, I just got back from Buffalo myself!
Good question, So far for me it is not in issue. I wear my bass high so I can use a floating style of sorts, basically I don't rest my thumb anywhere on the body of the bass. Personally I don't want to put a thumb rest on this bass, it would take away from the clean look. Rob Allen does offer thumb rests and recommends one if you are the type that would keep your thumb in one place. The type of finish he uses is not as durable as what would be on a solid body finish, your thumb would damage the finish. He offers a Fender style thumb rest for $50.00 and can make custom sizes, both would match the top wood of the bass.
Man between Rob Allen and Veillette [sp?]-I'd like to pick one up eventually. Not any time soon [no money-and other stuff is higher on priority list], but eventually. The ability to pull that tone out of such a small package is very appealing. That's on and congrats on the killer bass.
