MENC Measurements

    I've seen several URB (like Engelhards) which are said to meet the MENC specifications. Does anyone know what these specifications are? I found a couple of pages with some measurements (body lenght, etc) but I don't know if there's any site where I can find full measurements for DB and if those specifications mean sth else apart from measurements. And, the obvious question, is it sth to care about, if an instrument does or does not meet these specifications?

    The instrument will always need to be set up for your playing style, string type, etc. However it is a common place to start. If you are going to play before buying and have some good advice being given to you, it may not make a difference.

    I remember going over some MENC specs for basses a few years ago. There were some good numbers, but it's not something that is posted above my bench. Maybe it matters on brass instruments or kazoos or something else. But, it's not a big deal if it isn't mentioned in the sale of a URB.

    I agree with Nick, however the specs are posted on my shop wall. Proper setup of a kazoo is most exacting.
