It's almost Christmas time. I have something bass related to open up. Happy Chanukkah and have a Happy Kwanzaa too. Are you expecting a bass-related gift that hasn't been opened yet?
I don't celebrate any religious holidays but my office is closed today, tomorrow and Friday and I'm working, so I'm getting three days of regular pay and 3 days of overtime. Happy whatever to us all but especially me because I'm broke and this is awesome for me.
Christmas is not necessarily a religious holiday here in the U.S. You have my permission to have fun and do whatever you want. As if you needed my permission.
We won't, and can't go there here, but Christmas is Christian. A winter solstice celebration is eons old and open to everyone, but I'll still be here working. Yay overtime.
No offense intended my friend. Whatever you do I hope you have fun. Let your hair down, cut loose, get really crazy and put some marshmallows in your hot chocolate.
No fun for me. Unless you consider tedious and mind-numbing administrative work fun. But money is good. A friend invited me over to his house for a Christmas lunch his family has every year and I'll probably go. His gradma makes this Greek soup with tripe that I've been hearing about for years. I'm pretty psyched.
I'm kinda hoping for a good night's sleep. I played a show last night and then got up and rode in to work this morning. Tomorrow is a day off, but there's a long honey-do list waiting for me when I get home. At least the kid is home for a few days, and that's a nice change from the last few years. He's been in Los Angeles with a Christmas church gig, but he decided he didn't need the money this year. Or maybe they didn't ask him to play. I don't know, but either way, it's great to have him home. That's really what this is all about for us.
Merry Christmas ! Whatever your personal take on Christmas, I pray you and yours travel safely and enjoy your time together.
This is one of John Kallas' basses. This flagship model is a late 1966 repo of the Fender jazz in Ocean Turqoise Metallic, block inlays, paddle tuners, and matching headstock. The SD pickups have a nice gurgly burpy jazz tone but can also cop a nice P bass tone as well. I look forward to running her through another band rehearsal as soon as the holidays are over.
