I bought this from fellow tb'er Jorg Schroeder last fall. Loved it for electric, don't care for it so much for upright. It's been recently re-tubed with soviet made Ruby Tube 6L6's in the power section, and sovtek 12ax7's in the preamp section. I recently tried putting in Eurotube/JJ 12at7's to sterilise the sound enough for upright-not gonna work for me.

In the Mesa shockrack these turn for $900 regularly on ebay in unknown condition-this one's solid with fresh tubes...

I'd consider trading for: Eden WT800

Pics available on request, but you've all seen one.

    Thanks, Alan

I gotta bump this for Chef...great amp and good provenance...I'd be looking for a second 400+ if mine wasn't so solid. You know this one's in good shape if Jorg owned it too!

Mesa 400+ is the other whitemeat...loud and rich and lots of room for tonal exploration. I prefer this amp to the SVT.

Thanks for the bump Jorg. I really love this amp for electric-and I did use it for upright for a while. I have since found options that work better for my current needs.

    *Mad props for Schroeder Cabs!*
    Don't gig without one;)

  6. Ugh! I so badly wish I had the money to take that off your hands Chef..but in the meantime..heres a free bumperoo

I gotta bump this one for the east coast morning crowd. I can't believe this is still here.

Lemme add this up...The tubes would run you over $200 bucks (you're getting 12 6L6s and 4 12AX7s), the Mesa rack is easily a couple hundred bucks if you wanted to buy one...This is a steal. You're not gonna have to touch the tubes for many many years.

**My secret is to run BOTH channels of this amp at the same time, and you get ALL 16 TUBES in your tone. ***

I actually drove a 12 hour round trip to pick mine up in person, because I knew it was THAT cool.
This should go to a TBer not an eBay weenie.

    No sir, but thank you.
Really jonesin for a new eden wt800b, or 1205. I'd consider a TFB550 with ''the switch,'' but then again I just bought a TFB420...

Had pm's about price, and I guess I wasn't clear enough on that. They sell for $800 all the time on ebay, this one has ~$200 worth of new tubes, and ~$200 worth of rack.

$900 and it's all yours, and I'll work with you guys on shipping.

    Thanks, Alan

  16. One more bump; I had the 400+ freshly retubed before I sold it to Chef, and this amp is smoking. I would have kept it myself if it wouldn't be on the heavy side (I think I'm getting old) :smug:

Couple more, look at all those glorious tubes! Talk about tone for days!
Is there a better amp? I doubt it, wish it fit my needs better:(

Mmmmm, "Winged C, from Russia with love."
Big fat tone, and all that power right at your fingertips.
    Seriously, you're tempted, right;)
