Are there any case solutions for the Mesa Carbine that are similar to what Aguilar offered for their AG500 products?

I occassionally ponder an M6 (thanks to my GAS inducing amigo), but I don't like the usual SKB type of cases. Would the M6 fit the AG500 case?

The M6 fits a standard 2 space rack. The dedicated Mesa case is gorgeous, but runs about 300 bucks from Mesa and adds about 15 lbs. That case is also available in all kinds of spectacular custom finishes (from all wood to gator-embossed leather in a variety of colors) at considerable upcharge.

Check out what Mesa custom shop did with my Walkabout combo:

Thanks. Yeah, I guess I knew the M6 fits a standard 19" rack.

But I don't know if cases like Aguilar's exist that provide a "standard 19" rack", nor do I know if the holes/depth of the Aguilar case would fit the M6.

I agree the Mesa case is nifty, but for the reasons you mention, is totally out of the question for me.

    Your combo is sweeeet!

I keep my M6 in a SKB two rack case.

Edit: Sorry, I missed that don't like SKB cases. I'd try the Aguilar case to see it it fit or could be retrofitted.

    Captain:
You might check the dimensison of each amp from their respective web sites
If the Mesa is close to or shorter than the Aguilar then it should fit
They might even list the dimensions for just the cab

Dredging up an old thread....I just picked up a Mesa M3 and also a Gator GRB-2u rack case.

After I got it home I'm wondering if it's going to cause the amp to overheat. The front and back both open but Mesa recommends 2" around for ventilation.

Have you guys had any overheating issues with your rack-mounted Carbines?

I put my M9 in a 2U Gator rack, and it fried, twice. After repairs it has been in the bottom 2U of a 3U Gator with screen in the top 1U. Never fried since. Many used to do the 2U thing and it worked. I think the 10 mosfet M9 is the main problem, not the 8 mosfet M9/M6 or any M3.

I have my M9 in a 2U Gator rack/case (going on 3 years now). I have never experienced a problem. I drive a 410 cabinet and occasionally use 2x410's for outside gigs (rare). I have the original 900w version with no Mesa upgrades as its never overheated or shut down on me. I know others have had a problem though. I have to say its really only ever gotten warm, never "hot", even after hours of continuous playing left on standby between sets. No different than any other amp head I've owned.

N.B., mine was serial number 34. Perhaps yours came from the factory with some of the newer features, i.e., (2 fans, huge new heat sinks, alternate power transformer, slotted lid, redesigned fuse system, preamp upgrades, etc.? :D

Yours is really early! Mine is ser. no. 1048. By "original 900 watt version with no Mesa upgrades" I meant before they changed it to the 600W version with the reduced number of MOFSETS etc. I don't know what factory re-designs were incorporated between yours and mine. I do have the slotted top though, but only 1 fan. Don't know about the other stuff you mentioned. Small wonder why the early ones overheated if they didn't even vent through the top!
