Morning Troops, I've got an opportunity to buy to what is near-as-makes-no-difference my dream bass cab, the Diesel 215. Only cab I'd prefer is the Road Ready version but they are like hens teeth. Question is, the one in question has a single input on the back. My 410 has more of a intricate input plate and I just want to make sure someone can validate that this thing is kosher. Pictures attached. Cheers, Andrew
Cheers for the response, any idea of year of that RR? Thinking this was maybe the set up of some of the earlier models
That single input is the same Diesel 215 I have. Mine is an '86. From what I remember seeing at the Boogie store, the larger multi-input jack plates didn't come into play 'til circa '92/'93-ish
Cheers Mike - I've really struggled to get any in depth info on this cab, did yours come with a manual? From what I can tell Mesa never bothered with one. Also, thoughts on the cab, since you're here?
Yes sir. I had one purchased in 1987 just like it. That is a very nice cab with the original EV 15L speakers. I ran it with a Bass 400 and a Steinberger L-2.
A friend of mine used to have one. I ran it a couple of times. One of the nicer 2x15’s I remember playing through.
No manual with cabs that I've ever seen. My friend/mentor bassist bought it new, and then I bought it from him in the early 90's, and still have it and use it occasionally these days. It still sounds incredible... Very ballsy in-your-face tone. These were usually the 400w cabinet (two 200w EV15L speakers), and these are 4ohm.
Had two single 15 Diesels that I bought in 1987 and kept until 1990. They had the single input jack just as yours does. With the original EV15s that cabinet is a monster. A very sweet midrange. Mine did not come with a manual. I bought them from the store I worked at, we were the only Boogie dealer south of Los Angeles at the time.
Cheers everyone for the replies, got the 2x15 before I sold the 4x10 so did what anyone else would do...
A little late to this but my Road Ready 115 has the same jack as well. Congrats on the 215! Looks like its in real nice shape!
Very cool cabs both the RR and the Diesel IMO were better than the Powerhouse. I had two of the 1x15 RR and a Diesel 2x15 and a Diesel 4x10 and a Powerhouse 4x10 and a few other things.
I'm going to post some information about both when I get a chance - email Mesa and they confirmed that a manual was never created for any of the cabs and it was a nightmare trying to find any detail online
It sounded really loud, felt louder. I'm 6'1" and the top two 10's were at eye level which was, something.
For a short while I played an SVT II Pro with two 410 cabs. I, too, am over 6 feet tall. And, yes, it's nice to have a couple speakers near eye level.
Hen's teeth spotted: Craigslist near me has a Road Ready Diesel 2x15 (w/ one jacked speaker that needs to be reconed or replaced) for $250. No help to the Glaswegian OP, but if anyone closer to the ACC is looking for old-school glory, check the Richmond CL.
