Any clue how much a Mesa 4x10 cab and a head to power it should run me?

    4x10 PowerHouse Bass Cabinet
not sure bout the head, just something to power that, but i'd prefer it to be a mesa......i already have a 160 watt crate combo.....would it be better using that as a head and saving my money, or be better to get a head for it?

but either way, how much should atleast the cab cost?

You'll be much better off with a cab and head rather than trying to use a crate combo as a head.

Mesa has a pretty strict pricing structure, which means you'll always pay near list price, unless you get a closeout.

I don't know what a 4-10 cab runs off the top of my head, but a call to any GC that carries Mesa will answer that.

I believe Mesa heads start aroudn $900 and go up from there.

Yeah, i heard the powerhouse 4x10 are 350-450 and a head would run me 500-1500

  6. The Powerhouse 410's are definitely more expensive than 350-450. Try closer to 600-700, judging by the prices of their smaller cabs. I'm sure somebody will come and throw the actual price list around though.

Mesa Price List (I've got it bookmarked):

    http://www.talkbass.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-177397.html

The Powerhouse 4x10 runs $899.00 plus your local tax. The RoadReady cabinet will run you $1,198.00 plus tax.

Mesa heads start at $949.00 plus tax with the Walkabout. The M-Pulse 600 runs $1,349.00; Venture 600 at $1,499.00; Big Block at $1,349.00; Bass 400+ $1,499.00.

So you're looking at $2,000 bare minimum.

  8. Check Guitar Center. I picked up a Walkabout head for under 500 new. They might have something else on clearance.

If i were you, I would buy the cab new and get the head used. Youll save money on the head and most used mesa stuff is still in great operating condition providing that the first owner was at the least bit competent.

The mesa power house 4x10 can handle 600 watts which Im pretty sure is 600 watts RMS. The 1x15 can handle 400 watts.

I've got serious GAS for a mesa powerhouse 4x10 and an M pulse 600 head.

The powerhouse 4x10 is an 8 ohm speaker I dunno if there is a 4 ohm version available but with that cab and head you can put out 300 watts. Add another 4x10 or 1x15 you will get the full 600 watts from the head.

Of course you could just use a 4 ohm cab as well to get the full 600 watts either.

Man those things are expensive though. I've got prices for them in Northern Ireland and was hitting €1983 just for the head and maybe another €1000+ for the cab which is cheap compared to prices in the south of Ireland and no doubt ridiculously expensive when you convert that to dollars and compare prices over in America
