I've had my Mesa Boogie M9 Carbine for less than two years now. Everything with this amp has been great, no problems. I am pushing a Mesa 4x10 cab. I felt like this was going to be a great investment that would last for a long time. Sad to say a flash of light then a large cloud of smoke half way into our first song has changed my confidence. From now on I will have a back up head for every live show. Hell, I work in music production. We always bring back up bass heads and guitar amps for the artists. I've hardly ever seen anyone have to use one but they are there just in case. I guess the reason I am posting is to ask if anyone else out there has had any problems with the Mesa M6 or M9. I opened it up and found the burnt board. I googled the numbers on it but didn't really come up with any hits. The board that burnt up was center left (looking at it from the front) and it has: MESA SS-B- 2008 D.V.R. I can post pic's of it if any one is interested. I have been told Mesa customer service is great. This happened on Friday so I will have to wait until Monday to find out how they handle it. My thoughts are that they should replace it at no charge. I doubt that any warranty still covers it but damn, it is less than two years old. I had a cheap ass Hartke head last 15 years and counting. Any thoughts, experience or feedback would be appreciated. Happy Jams! Thanks
Their warranty should most definitely cover it - it's fully transferrable for 5 years... Call 'em up, and have the serial # ready - and I'll bet they take care of you - sorry to hear about your misfortune... - georgestrings
Check the m6/m9 megathreads. There you will find just a couple of storiescrelated to shutdowns. Great sounding heads!
The Carbines seem to have had more than their fair share of letdowns, but Mesa will take care of you.
Have you checked your cab to be sure it didn't take any speakers with it? That's happened to me in the past...
Best sounding head I have ever owned. Unfortunately I had 2 M9 amps cut out on gigs in under a year (and 1 was 3-4 months old). Too bad, but I washed my hands of anything "M series" after that.
Some still bash Bugera for being unreliable, my BVP5500 runs for more then 2.5 years without problems, maybe I'm just lucky....knock on wood.... Hope MESA will send you a new board under warranty!
MESA comes with a 5 year warranty... They are off on Friday.. Im sure they will hook you up... give them a call
Sorry to hear about this! Give us a call in Customer Service and we'll get you sorted out ASAP! Whatever the issue, your amp is under warranty and we'll take care of it. We apologize for the inconvenience - hope to hear from you soon!
I wouldn't read too much into it. Sometimes amps fail. I had an older M-2000 Basis, which I am told has basically the same power stage as the M6, and died on a gig, although less dramatically. Fried board. Had to get it fixed, but the amp has been a champ since.
Its a shame when gear breaks down. But, I would not let this sway your confidence in Mesa. Its simply the finest gear around for bass. Ive had 2 amps, never ever had an issue with either. My 400+ I got brand new back in the early 90's is not mine anymore, but the guy I sold it to still plays it 4 nights a week. He has NEVER had a problem with it either. Ive seen several M series heads with issues. Im sure Mesa is doing everything they can to figure out the problems and fix them. THeir customer service is second to none, so im sure they will fix you right up. BTW, my Trace Elliot head from 1980 is still also going strong with another buddy. Used every week. Now thats reliability.
Mesa is a great company. I believe your amp carries 5 years of warranty. Should be no issues getting it resolved
