I just picked up a new-to-me car to replace my other biodiesel buggy which has an engine malady. When I opend the trunk at the dealers I knew I would have a problem. While the car is the same model as the older one, the trunk lacks a freckle of depth. So I get to packing up for Friday's gig, and sure 'nuff, the 15" Scout wont fit into the trunk. I tossed it into the back seat, which I prefer not to do. The interior of the "new" car is mint. Like to keep it mint. If anyone wants to swap their 12" Scout for a 15", I'm all ears! I tried a MarkBass2X10 combo amp which would fit, but it aint no Mesa. What would you do?
I have leather interior in my truck and sometimes load gear onto the back seat. I use a moving blanket to protect the seat..its padded and covers most of the seat area...you can even use a canvas drop cloth..
I had that problem with my Scout when I had a tiny Kia. I used the back seat and covered it with a blanket. The Scout also had a leather cover. Did that for a year and no damage to the car or amp.
I'd certainly consider swapping my Scout 12 for your 15, but shipping will be a giant pita. I use my Walkabout head with a 212 mostly, anyway, and never have seen a 15" Scout, hence, my curiosity has got me. Where're you at?
Waaaaay up in Buffalo NY. Mesa told me to get the 15" , as I'm a 5 stringer, but the 12" was punchier. Now I run the 15" Scout with 2X10 ext cab at gigs to get some punch back, and its just like I like it. BTW, the depth of the 15" Scout is near 20" , whereas the depth of the 12" Scout is only 15". OK OK blankets it is. I'm sure UPS would be pretty huge to TX, and there is a $200 price differential between the 12 and 15. But for S-n-G's I'll check on shipping to Dallas. We should probably keep the amps adn ship the cabs. Like I said, I run mine at 2.67 ohms once in a bit. The cab is near mint, although I have replaced the handle once.
Yeah, shipping's gonna kill that idea, beside's, you're better off keeping it like you have it, and use a blanket to protect your car. I kinda like the 12 anyway.
PM replied to. Methinks we gots a solution. The 12" seemed punchier. I like em both. I would like a verner dial on the preamp output though!
