so i was in a local store today, and they had a mesa 400. not the 400+. it was setup with jan 6550's. does this mean it puts out 300 watts? i could get it for 750-800. it says 899 on the ticket. should i offer him something less? i played it through a mesa 2x10, with some cheap bass, and it sounded pretty good. i'm thinking that through my 8x10 with my jazz it will sound even better. does this sound like a good deal? i've been wanting a tube amp for awhile now, so i was thinking about selling my svp/qsc setup for either a mesa or an svt. what do you all think?

I played with a Mesa 700 in London today and it sounded amazing. That was going for around £1500 I think, so $750 for the 400 isn't a bad idea.

  3. I used to own a 400 with 6550's and ran it through a mesa 2-15 and a 2-10. Nice sounding rig. But not as powerful a an svt. I think it puts out about 220 watts (smaller transformers). I would try to get it for $600 or $700 if you can.
