I'm going to get a new Fender CS bass (P/J) and was wondering if metal flake finishes add to the value since they're a custom color.

Definitely don't think they add value but they look hella cool! I love my g&l sb2 metal green flake! Of course they cost much more....but don't expect to flip one due to finish. Leave that to vintage collectors wanting gibson silverbursts and fender antigua finishes. Good luck!

Yes and no. It will be a rarer finish than many...but at the same time you'll probably also limit the prospective resale market since metal flake won't appeal to everyone, even more so depending on your choice of colors.

I've come and gone on Metal flake finishes, value would depend on the buyer but if you like it, go for it!
