    hey everybody,

i'm looking for a sweet bass that can give me a cool funky sound, but can work with metal and other types of music, but mostly metal or heavy kinda things...i was gonna get a fiver, but thats different story...anyways, what im looking for in the bass is 24 fret, active pickups, hipshot d tuner, other things. some of the basses ive been looking at have been aria and ibanez, but suggestions are welcome

    thanks in advance

Get an Active MTD Kingston 5er. Great value, and works well with some heavy stuff (Juan Nelson uses it for some funky stuff for Ben Harpers).

A lot of people here will back me up on that one. Good stuff! You'd have to add the D-tuner, but hey, the whole thing will cost less than 600, if I'm not mistaken.

The MTD Kingston is a fine bass, but it is not active. Of course, you could put a preamp in it for about $150-$200.

Another great choice would be the Musicman Stingray, sounds great for funk or metal, but it doesn't have 24 frets.

Like everyone said, the MTD Kingston, or the MM Stingray. Also the Modulus Flea model is supposed to suit funk.
