METALLICA DEFENDS RIGHTS AGAINST CANADIAN BAND OVER E, F CHORDS | 7/16/2003 << GO BACK

We have elected to pursue legal action against Unfaith, a Canadian band using chords (E & F) traditionally associated with Metallica. We intend to agressively defend our rights in this matter to the fullest extent of the law. It's nothing personal against the band in question, as we intend to do the same to anyone else using the same chords in that order.

We're not saying we own the E chord, or even the F - that would be ridiculous. We're just saying that together, people have grown to associate them with our music, and their continued use in the same song causes confusion, deception and mistake in the minds of the public.

We are fighting this fight for our fans, who don't deserve to be subjected to this confusion... just as we appreciate their support through this.

DUDES YOU ARE ALL SO GULLIBLE!

It isn't even metallica.com! Look at the URL. Scoopthis.com is a website that makes prank sites like that all the time.

Wow, you people are really gullible. Somebody just took the HTML code from Metallica site and added text saying that then put it on their own domain.

    It's a joke...not real.

Sueing for use of chords? Get real guys...

Very funny stuff. That's as good as the Onion doing that story about a bass player not knowing he was in a Christian band. Hilarious.

I had some of you guys! :D I took this off another forum. When I first read it, I just thought it way too ridiculous but I wasn't too surprised. Only a band like Metallica can come up with things like these. When I saw the url it confirmed my suspicion.

  13. :D

next there'll be a story about Metallica suing bands for singing "YAY-YEAAAAARRRGGHHH!" Hetfield-style in their songs:p

I wouldn't put it past 'em. That's why it's funny, 'cause it's almost believable.

come on guys...what's the point in aiming a nuclear weapon? that does no good...i could point one at anyone i wanted to and they wouldn't know it because targeting data is classisfied...now, if a nuclear weapon were to be released... :D ok, i'm being a weenie. for the right price, though, i could nuke lars :D
