    Question for Michael Manring...

I was curious as to what the overdrive effect you use is.

    Hi Dave,

I use different overdrive effects depending on the particular color I'm going for and the logistics of the moment. On my CD The Book of Flame I used a Digitech RP10, RP12 and BP8, Zoom 2001, ADA MP2, and a few others. On Thonk I used mostly the real thing – overdriven guitar amplifiers including a Marshall and a Vox AC30.

Now there's a sound I really need to experiment more with - proper overdrive... :) the tone on Thonk is unbelievable, Michael.

Thanks, Steve. It's a lot of fun to hear those glowing tubes, but be careful -- those puppies are loud when they're cranking!
