Up for sale is a nice (if I do say so myself) replica of the very rare mid-60s Slab P Bass as described in the book Fender Bass for Britain, which you can see here:

    http://www.amazon.com/Fender-Bass-Britain-Slab-Bodied-Precision/dp/1438946627

    The bass is essentially new.

    The components:

Musikraft P Bass Neck – quartersawn neck with rock maple cap, nitro finish by Musikraft.

    Neck specs:

    Head Stock Orientation: Right

    Heel Width: Standard Fender 2-1/2"
Neck Wood: Quarter Sawn Maple ($95 upcharge)

Finish: Light Tint Satin Lacquer + $100
Additional Options: Semi Rolled Finger Board Edges

The body is a USA Custom Guitars custom made swamp ash body. It’s very light – only 4 ½ pounds after finishing. Tommy's guys did an awesome job on this body, with a hand-sanded edge radius to match the originals.

The Olympic White nitro finish was done by Marty Knapp, who USACG uses for nitro finishes.

The pickup is a 5% overwound Fralin.

    Tortoise pickguard from Pickguardian.

All other hardware is Fender USA vintage reissue.

The assembly and setup was done by Rob DiStefano here in NJ, who does great work. He installed a bone nut and set it up for nice low action.

It’s currently sporting a like-new set of Sadowsky black label flatwounds.

The weight of the bass is 8 lbs 13 oz. It’s an absolute joy to play and I wouldn’t think of selling it if I didn’t need the money for something else right now.

As an added bonus, it will ship in a brand new Mono M80 case in Jet Black.

The buyer can have my slightly used copy of the book mentioned above if they’d like.

The price is $1050 plus actual shipping cost to your location from zip code 07094.

Not interested in trades – thanks for looking.

  2. Oh man, what a beauty. I have been thinking about sourcing a body like this to match a neck I have. But this is a thing of beauty.
