Mid price 5 fretless: opinions please

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Rockin John, Jan 13, 2003.

  1. If I had £400 / £500 to spend I could probably afford a selection of basses. 3 possibilities spring to mind:-

    Dean Edge5F
    Jazz 5F MIM
    Yamaha TRB5IIF (second hand).

Not really interested in Ibanez, Washburn, Aria and their ilk.

    Any thoughts, guys?

FWIW I own a Dean Edge5F and I love it. For that kind of money are you looking at one of the quilt top ones or the Czech models? My Korean Edge 5F has been a fantastic bass, I've had it for three years now.

For fretless I'd take a Cort Artisan B5FL over all of those. I also played an importw end Schecter that was very nice. Conklin GT fretless 5 should be in about the same price range too.

Of the three you've listed, the used Yamaha.
