MIDI cables/connections...

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Grahams Groove, Oct 15, 2004.

  1. I am looking for a midi cable to link my ADA MC-1 midi controller pedal to my ADA MB-1 pre-amp...are there different types of midi cables for this? Or will any 'standard' midi to midi 5-pin cable do the trick?

    Thanks

I haven't seen an MB1 in a decade, but I believe it took a 7 pin instead of or as an alternative to 5 pin MIDI cable...I might be WAY off base on this. It had to do with power transmission I think.

I'll try to find some more info.

  3. I've got two 7-pin midi cables...and you have a PM. The two extra pins transmit phantom power to the controller. Most Rocktron effects did/do this as well.

7-pinner... only difference between 5 and 7 is that you can power the foot controller with the 7-pin cable, and would need to add an AC adapter to power the footcontroller if you used a 5-pin cable.
