I have a turtle beach santa cruz sound card with winXP. I try to plug my yamaha keyboard through my sound card via a midi adapter. I select use external synth in my software and there is nothing. If I play the keyboard I can hear the sound fine in my speakers and I tried to switch the midi cable and nothing.

    What should I try now?

What exactly are you trying to do?

When you want to use your keyboard's sound in your computer you need to do it via audio, you can't do that via midi.

Midi is used to either record midi events and/or trigger synths or samples in your computer.

I want to use my keyboeard midi sounds with my software instead of my soundcard sounds. They sound much better.

You can trigger your keyboard sounds from within your pc via midi, but in order to get them onto the computer you need to feed the line out of your keyboard into your soundcard's line in (audio!).

Midi is only controller data, not sound.

It's done. I can hear the keyboard well in my computer speakers when I play on it but not when it is triggered by the computer. I tried with Cubase SX and band in a box, With no succes.

Can you change the synthesizer/soundcard setting?
