For a four string. like the oens that go in ibanez's edb or edc series. or the btb. or the spector. you get the idea. i want TONS of midrange.

P/B - were you thinkin' of modding your P-bass? Or are you
lookin' for a completely different bass?

If it's tweakin' your Precision, you might consider an EMG BTC
active tone control thingie plus a "EMG-VMC". That's "Variable
Midrange Control". It's a stacked knob affair: one controls the
boost (up to 12dB), and the other the sweep (300Hz to 3KHz).

    There's more info here -- http://emginc.com/Accy.html

That EMG page says their BTC controls work with passive pups
as well as EMG pickups :).

Of course, all this hoo-haa means routin'-out some room in your
Precision for a 9 volt battery & probably another hole in the pickguard :(.

  3. You could also use the VMC alone instead of your tone control
