Might be my last bass build, but I needed it!

  1. Been using my Fender Flea jazz bass for my Motown/Stax cover band but sometimesfor a few of the songs they require a more traditional P bass sound ex. Grapevine, Let’s stay together, etc… since I got my 79 P bass from a good friend and too valuable to take out for gigs I thought I would use what few old used looking parts I had remaining in my garage, but I needed this Nate Mendel body that I had to order online to complete the project.
Neck is from a 2007 Squier standard jazz which was refinished with a Fender decal and has a relic look (I must say this is one of the nicest necks I’ve ever played and that includes my Fender Elite, Yamaha BB3000, or 90’s Schecter California jazz which is a dream to play)
Old Ultralite tuners with drop D
Some Dimarzio Model P (I know not traditional but sound amazing in this thing)
Old threaded saddles on a heavy bridge
Had a few PG to choose from but I had to go Tortoise
Finished off with GHS Precision flats 45-105
All done in less the 2 hours today.. I’ll run it through it’s gears tmrw at practice but right now all I can say I’m absolutely lovin’ this bass! It just went together so easily and plays and sounds just as well. And I’m now pretty much out of any major parts for future builds ;)
