Hey guys I got a mid 80s fretless special jazz that needs a new nut. I intend to replace with a brass nut but I don't know if the bottom of the nut is flat or curved. If anyone here knows the shape id appreciate the help as I don't want to do too much sanding/adjusting on a brass nut.

Why a brass nut? Didn't those go out of fashion by the mid eighties?

I like the brightness and sustain that brass nuts add to open notes and I find them aesthetically pleasing as well

    Welcome to TalkBass.
All of the nuts I have found made specifically for Fender electric basses are curved. Some of the acoustic stuff is flat. Why not knock you nut loose and check it? Then you know for sure.
