Thoughts? The knobs are just dummy knobs. The jack is wired directly to the pickup, passive. Ernie Ball Music Man Unveils Mike Herrera StingRay Bass
I think it’s funny, and I’m sure some diehard fans will love to have one. It would be smart if they had all of the pots there and you could easily open it up and wire the pots in if you wanted. This is probably not going to be a regular item at GC, but that would be really funny. It would fit right in next to all the other basses with knobs missing/spinning/not working.
Like I get it when an Anthony Jackson Presentation has a specifically voiced pickup wired right to the jack... or even the Joe Dart bass with one big knob. but I don't get putting pointless knobs on a StingRay, even if Mike has his set up that way. But like a lot of things on here, I don't HAVE to get it. I do dig the teal/maple.
Sorry to resurrect this thread, I am on a MXPX/passive Stingray kick at the moment. Just wanted to mention something I noticed in the pictures - there is still a battery box on there. So, my guess is that if you wanted this and wanted to update the wiring it'd be fairly easy. I guess someone would have to check inside to see if there is an unwired preamp. That'd be a bummer if you had to buy a preamp after the fact.
