Does anyone know what type of bass he played with Genesis? I know he played a doubleneck 12 and 4 but he also played a single neck.. Can't find any pics anywhere showing what he played.

    Shergold.
I used to own a fretless red cherry Shergold.
One of the only basses I regret selling.

  3. Thought I used to see Mike with a ric in the early days...

Maybe, but Shergolds have been his main instruments for a very long time.

  5. Actually, I saw Genesis no less than 20 times from "Foxtrot" right through to "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway", and Michael always used Ricks back then.

The Shergolds must have been post-Gabriel Genesis?

He used to play a very early Status Graphite bass too. It was an original "Strata" and is now owned by Pat McDonald from this board.

Maybe he'll chime in with some more info and pics...

  7. Yes I do recall that one, and the winged Steinberger (forgot the model #) which he played or possibly endorsed for a short period around the same time.
