    Hi all,

I recently took the pick guard off of my MIM Fender Telecaster and saw 3 3/4" diameter holes drilled underneath the neck position lipstick pickup. They are about 1/2" deep. They don't look accidental, but they don't have any controls or whatnot inside. Are these commonly there? Does anyone know what are they for?

They are probably used to hold the guitar body while sanding and finishing. They are called jig holes, IIRC.

Thanks man. :) I was wondering... What in the heck?!?!

Hey, now I wonder... Are these on Fender's MIM basses too?

I think my 97 jazz [mim] has at least one of those-not entirely sure though since it's been a while since i have touched that bass let alone opened it up. That's all
