I've been hearing a lot about Made in Mexico Fenders on this board, and I'm pretty interested in buying one. The only problem is that I have no idea where to get one. Would any Fender vendor carry these, or do I have to order them directly from Fender?
literally every music store that sells basses has Fenders. they are the most popular basses. of course they have the standard series.
I just got my MIM Jazz a couple of days ago and I love it. I got a brown sunburst and I bought a tortise pickguard. The MIM are the standard series. The good thing about the MIM is that they are very upgradeable. A couple of good websites besides trhis one is www.bassstreet.com and www.fender.com and www.fenderforum.com You can get these in a P or a J style. Also for the same price range the MTD Kingston is an excellent choice. I havent heard of anything bad about the MTD's but I like the traditional Fender J bass. Steve
i have played many different types of basses and the best by far by my ears is fender, so i think you should definatly find one and by it....may i suggest a jazz bass by fender...
Itd also be wise to play one before buying, seeing its better to trust your ears rather than our words. BTW my MIM Jazz rules.
Ok thanks. Plastic knobs just don't work on a P-bass... My MIM Jazz is wonderful to those who are interested. A great purchase.
On the Fender site, when you click on basses, it shows a MIM P in the new blue color with the metal knobs, but when you clikc on the standard series P-bass link below the pic it shows one with plastic knobs. ????
I have heard a lot of people say when referring to MIM Fenders to try a few out before you buy one. It seems that some of them are better than others. I don't know, as I have only played a couple, and they were both decent basses for the money.
Yeah, every music store BUT the one that is most convientient for me to go to . Not a fender to be found there, except for a very used lefty Squire. They have plenty of Johnsons and Alvarezes. Both of which I can't stand. Hey wait a minute! I just got my license! I can finally broaden my bass choices! I can goto GC, Sam Ash, and (I hope it doesn't come to this) Mars. I just peed myself with excitement!
I've tried out Fenders for years and years and years and found that they have differed a great deal over the years. However, in more recent years, their quality seems to be a little more consistent. Even so, when I finally did break down and buy my MIM, I noticed that the two they had in the store still varied a bit. I bought what I thought was the better one. I still had to have the frets professionally leveled, the pickups and bridge replaced, and the neck straightened before it sounded good to me. But, that's what I bought it for. Now, it's a cool bass...but, all that work??? I spent as much fixing up a brand new Fender as I spent on the thing.
