Short gig report, short set, long on fun.

Got an invite to play a short 45 min set at Cincinnati's SummerFair at Old Coney, on the Acoustic Stage.

Picked everything up, but this time w/ a hollow body.

Sorry, no pics of iconic Old Coney [told you this would be short], located along The Ohio River. But here's a pic of the stage w/ the duo scheduled before us.

We dialed in quickly and found our groove. The reception was very positive, which we really appreciated since it was all original material.

Since this was the Acoustic Stage, the Gretsch 6072 hollow body seemed like the appropriate tool for the job. We slowed some of the songs, gave them a less is more approach, and the Gretsch did a great job capturing the acoustic vibe.

Seemed like it was over before it started but we had a great time and delivered a sold performance. Gotta love that!

Nice to see gig opportunities popping up. Gotta be nice to get out and play, even if it was just one set. Hopefully we’ll get back out soon, too (supposed to be auditioning a keys player and two guitar players this weekend, keeping fingers crossed...).

Definitely looked like the right choice of bass, too. Nice looking instrument.

    Hi @2saddleslab,

Ya gotta love those unexpected last minute gigs, especially when you can play them. Yay band! That looked like a nice outing, eazy-peazy. That's a terrific looking Gretch.

    Thank you for your indulgence,

Thanks, gents! I only play the Gretsch a couple times a year but it's great to have that option for gigs like this. It's a true hollow body but doesn't feedback at all due to the thinner body depth. Would love to use my Dean hollow body but it howls like crazy at the slightest hint of volume.

  5. Looks like a warm reception for a last minute gig, can't ask for more than that.

    Thanks for sharing.
