Minidisc to PC

  1. I record rehearsals onto my Sony MZ-N707 minidisc recorder, and have been wondering if there's a way to get the music into the PC without using a analog cable. The OpenMG Jukebox or Realplayer let's you transfer mp3 to the MD, but Sony's copy protection prevents you from transfering the songs from the minidisc into the PC. Is there a way around this? It would be so much easier...

I'm not familiar with this unit, but I use a home minidisc deck that has an optical out. I use that to record to a Nomad Jukebox 3 from the deck. These days I'm recording more with the Nomad because it can record to MP3 or WAV format and I can transfer to my PC using a Firewire connection and then edit with CoolEdit.

The NetMD USB connection is for downloading only. It simply doesn't support uploading.

Use the analog cable, it works great. An MD is more like a tape deck than a data device anyway.
