I have been wanting to try the new dual pickup EB MM Sterlings and StingRays. Yesterday I went into the big Guitar Center on 14th st between 5th and 6th in Manhattan. They had several dual pickup MM's. I asked to try a nice looking natural maple necked Sterling, sc in the neck position. Sat down, plugged it in. Beautiful fret work, nice neck, nice workmanship. So let's try these pickup positions, so this is a 5 position switch?... CRACKLE!!!!~~~~~POP! Crackle!! Whoa! What was that? Tried again, POP! CRACKLE NOISE!!. So I tried a dual humbucker StingRay...CRACKLE POP!! The volume of the crackles and noise from the pickup switch was louder than the actual amplitude of the bass! So is there a little gremlin that goes around squirting junk into MM's at GC? I put them both back, and went on looking.
