MM PUP Spacing

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by smo, Feb 7, 2006.

  1. Hi Everyone,

First up - I'd like to thanks all of you who've helped me so far.

I'm currently in the planning stages of converting a P-style Yamaha into a MM beast!
I've got a SD Basslines SMB-4A Alnico PUP and the Basslines STC-3M3 to marry it to, now i just have to to the work.

I was left wondering tho - How can i find that MM sweet spot? How far is it from the bridge?

    Thanks in advance,

Can you check out someone's MM bass? Bring a tape measure and measure the distance from the 12th fret to the centreline if the MM pickup. or someone on this forum might do it for you.

Why limit your options? Make it movable, like the Gibson Grabber.

  4.
Nice idea - but i'm not even close to fabricating yet......

    Anyone know?
Does anyone have a rule of thumb i can go on?
    Thanks again, Smo
