MM Sterling Pickup Lever: Sting Ray Sound

  1. Hi,

I bought my new MM Sterling yesterday and I'm very happy with it.
Once someone told me one of the pickup lever positions would produce the Sting Ray Sound, but I cannot find which one it is (cause I don't own a Sting Ray to compare ;-)

    Thanx, Flea2010
  2. You should check out EB's website.

We want pics of your new baby!

    Oh, and congrats!
  3. thanks :)

on the website is only described how the pickups are switched:
1 - both coils, series mode
    2 - single coil
3 - both coils, parallel mode

but I don't know how it is done with the Sting Ray

Both coils in parallel is what you're looking for dude - slap away :bassist:
  5. I believe when the 3 way switch is pointing towards the bridge, this will give you the tone closest to that of a Stingray. Towards the neck yields a semi P-bass tone.

    That's what I remember.

  6. Oh, and congratulations on getting a Sterling. :)

Welcome to the Ernie Ball family.

    Mike

isn't that how it is with RB5's too? except 2 pickups of course...but on the Fender website it says you can select the coil closer to the neck, the coil closer to the bridge, or both, but that makes no sense. I don't own one, so I cant look inside, so anyone wanna help me with that?

on topic: Yah, post pics! You know the rule, every time you have a new bass, post pics, or else. :D
