this is a bit more oriented towards the effects side of life, so i'll send it on over there post haste.

as for the vbass, to be honest, i was a bit disappointed. i was expecting more out-there wacky sounds, like the vg8/vg88 has for the guitar, but almost every preset was "66 jazz through an ampeg" type crap. gimme more wackiness, that's what i say. :D

    f, I challenge you to a V Bass Off!!
  9. i go get the V-Bass.

i ask the guy SPECIFICALLY, is there a SPEC on how far away the GK2 pickup can be from the bridge point.

he says...oh no, you can put it anywhere.

so's i get it home...pull out the pickup install manual...sure friggin enough!!!

the pickup can't be more than 50 millimeters away from the bridge point!!!!!!

    DANG IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the closest i can get it is 60 millimeters.

figures. i may have to keep my MTD after all.

did you try it at all in that area? I find their specs leave a little room to futz...I like mine further away from the bridge than they suggest. Seems to be working fine on my jazz.

That MTD is a real fine looking bass Fred.............
you should probably keep it anyway:D I'm thinking of the V-Bass for my neglected Modulus bass....but I have to get over my speaker buying frenzy first;) Baby Bergie should be here this week....also looking at a EA cab:D

how wide is that pickup anyways??? reason I ask is I have a Kubicki and I only have a certain amount of room in which to mount the pickup...
  14. xush/adrian/jerry,

thanks for the support. gonna give a whirl tomorrow morning.

it just gets in my craw: you ask all the right questions before you buy, and you're STILL screwed with. these salespeople are TOTALLY uninformed about the product they sell.

natebass: the gk2b pickup is about 13.26 millimeters "wide".

  15. well,

    installed it today.

setup the sensitivity, sounding great. the uprights are incredible.

    NOTHING!!!!!!!!! no sounds.

when i go to the GK settings, i can hear the bass.

but, when i exit to play the patches. NOTHING.

    oh well.

  16. ooops

    silly me.

    volume assigned to the pedal.

    helps to RTFM!!!!!!!!!

read the f***ing manual! i go.

    so far so good.

sorry to air my ineptness in public!

  17. report:

hmmm...not sure if this is my cup of tea.

    i really love the acoustics.

i need to program some of my own patches. the synth stuff is pretty cheesey.

the j bass is fairly authentic.

i've had the guitar version for several years (roland vg-8) which is perfect for my limited guitar usage.

blending the lightwave pickups and the uprights is danged amazing with the v-bass.

makes me realise how much i appreciate the lightwaves.

on the fence at this point.

heh, you can always delete the inept post, then we'll all go back to thinking you're the resident genius again!

How are you liking the pitch-shifting? Try the 8 string patches yet?
I made a virtual ABG that I like.
Which bass are you installed on? Le Zona?

re: your last post; it really does take some tweaking, in my opinion. Most of the presets didn't excite me much. I guess I'm still about 80/20% on it...
  19. resident genious...HA! you can delete posts?

yes, i installed it on the zon. hence the issue with the bridge.

but, 60mm doesn't seem to be a problem at all.

had to shim in a weird way. set the sensitivities.

works GREAT! haven't tried programming yet.

at least i have 29 days left to screw with it. we'll see.

i'm still gonna clear out a bunch of gear.

i have 3 basses coming in next month.

  20. xush: man, are you SOOOO right.

    started programming my own patches.

    started with the acoustic.

and ya know...if the friggin' lightwaves don't add even MORE authenticity.

    what a combo....the lightwaves and the V-Bass.

    i'm starting to swell here.

    the blending is fantastic!!!

i want to get an envelope filter sound going.

so, here ya go folks, a play by play eval of the V-Bass.

from operator error assumed disaster, to sheer bliss!!!

and so far, just through headphones! my poor wife that approved the purchase is sick, in respect - silence...FOR NOW.

can't wait to try it with my QSC/Aguilar/Bergie rig!

    i need a gig!
