Modern rock song driven by bassline?

I looked through my library of modern rock music....and noticed that other than "Longview" by Green Day and "Time Is Running Is Out/Hysteria" by Muse, I don't have too many contemporary rock songs that are driven entirely by the bass during huge chunks of the song....distinctive bassline and all.

Could someone suggest a few for me to look for?

Not technical wizardry, but several songs by the Killers including "Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine", "Midnight Show", and "When You Were Young" are heavily bass driven.

...a lot of ska punk bands are driven by bass even though they aren't the main melodies. reel big fish - sell out comes to mind.

You should check out I Mother Earth. Not all of their songs bass driven, but overall bass plays a large part in their songs. Checkout the albums Scenery and Fish and Quicksilver Meat Dream.

One that stands out for me, L'Arc~en~Ciel "Stay Away"

The band, and bassist, that made me pick up a bass.

  17. cool I liked that. bass player kicks ass and seems like the band leader
  18. As Tall As Lions is a band that I've been getting into a lot lately. I don't know if I would say that the songs are driven by the bass, but the grooves are to die for. Seriously.

Yea, I know that Breaking Benjamin and sick puppies in general have something fun in there songs. If you really want to go crazy you will have to head towards heavy metal such as avenged sevenfold, where all 3 guitars and the bass have a time to shine.
