    Modes. Still confused regarding what they are though I think I'm already using them. I usually play off sheets with just guitar chords or look at the guitarist. If a song is in the key of C do I use the modes off the key of C or can I use modes for each chord. (ie) If G chord but start in Dorian Mode of G chord. Thanks for any input.

    this is an example of the modes starting in C (major), you can transpose to any of the 12 notes to start off in.

    Agree with Pacman, modes have been beat to death here in GI (which is a great thing). :)
