I could have sworn I saw a guy playing a P bass made by Modulus the other night. I was pretty much running thru the bar trying to catch up with someone and only had a second to glance over and check out what was going on. Since then I've googled the **** out of this and cant find a trace or even a mod of a Modulus P anywhere...... Was I mistaken? If they exist, do they still make them?
Here's one: But to be fair, it's not factory. I don't know that they ever made factory Ps but I've seen plenty of Modulus franken Ps.
It very well could have been a franken P. It was a solid red body with a single P and a Modulus neck. Idk......
Most of the ones I've seen had the older Bassstar necks (i.e. with the Fender-style headstock). At any rate, they're where it's at!
There are some here, including mine!!!!!! http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/modulus-bassstar-fan-club-611772/index5.html
Yep, ^^^this. I still remember playing a Frankenbass made from a Schecter solid rosewood body, Modulus BassStar neck, Bartolini P pickup, and Badass bridge way back when I was ~18 years old... and after about 5 minutes I had to put it down: It was too much bass for me! At the time I wasn't good enough to be able to control such a monsterous sound. Geez I'd kill for that bass now...
I had a custom VJ Bass w/ a Dimarzio P/J setup. They actually will make you almost anything you want, given you have time to wait. :thu:
I love that bass. I thought I had the only one, but a buddy of mine saw an exact duplicate at Atlanta Bass Gallery. I'm pretty sure I got the first one. I haven't heard anything about mass production...
Tell Zack we miss him back in good ole Carrollton, Ga. I remember seeing Zack at the local bars all the time back in the day......
Years ago Modulus made replace P-bass necks in the Bassstar line. They were exact replacements. Now days, you can buy a VJ Neck or a Quantum neck replacment necks for like $500 and $700 respectively
